The results from the second Primary League meeting of the season can now be found here or on the Primary Group pages

Ben Whipp (javelin) and Harry Coppell (pole vault) U17M were both selected to represent England at the UK School Games which took place at The Olympic Stadium last week. They both gave the performance of their lives with Ben coming 4th with a season’s best and missing bronze by just 16cm!! Harry took gold and went on to get a new pb of 4.60 m.

And what makes the results more impressive is that this took place in atrocious weather conditions.

It was another busy weekend with the County Championships taking place on both Saturday and Sunday with Wigan represented at the Greater Manchester/Cheshire Championships in Warrington and at the Lancashire Championships in Blackpool. 

It was a good weekend for the club, with a number of Wigan Harriers who can now call themselves County Champions. As well as winners the club also had quite a few athletes on the podiums claiming silver and bronze.

A lot going on for Wigan Harriers last weekend with the Northern League at Wigan on Saturday and the Young Athletes League at Bolton.

In the Northern league meeting Wigan finished second in a close fought meeting with Border taking first by just 9 points. A number of PB’s and SB’s posted and a track debut for Tim from the Endurance Group.

At the Young Athletes meeting Wigan claimed first place by over a 100 points with lots of PB’s and SB’s being posted. There were also some impressive debuts from the younger athletes in their first “serious” competetive outing. More to come soon..
