NoEAA Junior Indoor Championships (Sheffield, 22nd/23rd January 2005)
Several Wigan Harriers athletes competed at the NoE Junior Championships providing a welcome break from the rigours of winter training. There were some excellent performances providing encouragement for the coming season.
Heading the Honours List is Danielle McCann, who has joined Wigan Harriers from Preston Harriers. Danielle ran a superb race in the Under 20 Women's 400 metres. She was 4th on the last bend and came through to claim the Gold Medal in a time of 60.16 seconds. Danielle showed her delight, raising her arms in the air as she crossed the line.
Coming away with 2 medals, Laura Willey had a good weekend, with a silver medal in the Under 20 Women's Long Jump and a bronze medal in the 60 metres. Laura jumped 5.42m in the long jump and clocked 7.99 seconds in the sprint.
