Mid Lancs Cross Country League 2006/2007 Fixture 2
There was another strong turnout from our young Wigan Harriers for Round 2 especially at Under 11. It was tough going with gale force winds and blustery showers but all the Harriers put in excellent performances. Hopefully by reading this you will want to run in the remaining events and if we can get at least 4 runners in the U13s, U15s & U17s we will qualify for team points.
Remaining Races:
25th November (Sefton Park, Liverpool)
20th January (Lancaster University)
10th February (Astley Park,
Chorley)
3rd March (Witton Park, Blackburn)
Under 11 Girls
At this rate we will have a strong team, or two, when they move up to U13 next year. Out of a field of 42 runners they finished: Natalie Thompson (4th), Jessica Brookwell (7th), Harriet Kneller (8th), Sabrina Walley (10th), Emilie Brothwick (12th), Danielle Thompson (14th), Emilie Welsby (15th), Katie Farrimond (16th) and Hannah Swift (28th). That's an amazing 8 out of the top 16 being a Wigan Harrier!
Below are some photographs of the Under 11 Girls who competed at Burnley.

Under 13 Girls
Three girls turned out for the under 13s. They were: Cherisse Walley, Gabbi Large and Michaela Brindle. Out of a field of 46 runners they finished 8th, 31st and 37th respectively. To make a competing team we need 4 runners so come and have a go and lets get some points!

Warm down...
So what do our future top athletes do as a warm down exercise?
A swing in the park...
|
Are you sure this can hold us all???
|
A play in the park - what textbook is that in then?!?!
... and finally...
Our athletes wouldn't get anywhere if it wasn't for the "support crew" who organise them and take them along. So thank you to all those who helped out on the day!
