Mid Lancs Cross Country League 2006/2007 Fixture 4

Happy New Year to everyone!

This, surely, must have been the most demanding course of the season so far - not just because of the hilly terrain, but because of the weather! We had gale force winds, driving rain, hail and bursts of sunshine in between. It was even too windy to put up the club tent to provide some shelter for the runners! Despite the weather, there was still a good turn out from the Harriers across most of the age groups and they performed as detailed below.

Remaining Races:
10th February (Astley Park, Chorley)
3rd March (Witton Park, Blackburn)

Under 11 Girls

The weather must have inspired our younger runners with five finishing in the top ten - including a podium finish. They finished: Natalie Thompson (2nd), Harriet Knellar (4th), Jessica Brookwell (5th), Amy Higham (7th), Emily Borthwick (9th), Sabrina Walley (16th), Emilie Welsby (18th) and Danielle Thompsom (20th).

Below are some photographs of the Under 11 Girls who competed at Chorley.

Under 13 Girls

The weather did get foul during this race with the arrival of a freezing hail storm. However this did not dampen the spirits of Cherisse Walley, Gabbi Large and Michaela Brindle. Unlike me (and my camera), they all battled through and finished in 13th, 38th and 46th respectively.

Sorry to Michaela for not getting her picture as my camera stopped working at this point!

Under 15 Girls

Kerrell Walley was our only runner who finished 27th in the difficult conditions.

Under 17 Women

Catherine Whitfield was our only runner finishing in an excellent 7th place.

Under 11 Boys

A new face for this season - that being George Guest who finished a credible 32nd out of 42 runners.

Under 15 Boys

Matthew Crehan was our only runner finishing on the podium in 2nd place.

Footnote

Well done to all the athletes and see you at Chorley on the 10th February.
